frustration
i'm looking at a suzuki swift which i want to run a carfax car history check on. i got a mechanic friend to look at it today, and he's fairly sure it has been in an accident of some kind. so i thought a check would be a good thing, since i would hate to end up with a hunk of junk that can sit out in the back pasture and provide parts for laura's car. but as usual, they only take credit cards. *sigh* this is a never-ending problem. if i had a credit card and would use it online (which i wouldn't) i would have the record check already. *chuckles* the stubborness that comes of being dutch is hampering me. nothing is stopping me from getting one. i just have seen the effects of not being extremely careful with credit cards once too often. i am in no hurry to pur myself into temptation. lol.
anyway, we have a chinese gift exchange today, so i should go down and wrap up my gift. it's a hilarious stuffed bendy cat sort of animal. with a goofy expression.

You probably couldn't get qualified for a credit card, anyway. I don't know how it is in Canada, but it's not easy applying for credit without already having a credit history. I have good credit, so I'm constantly getting offers for more cards in the mail. Having credit is good; spending lots of money you don't have on stuff you don't need is bad... the two don't always go together, though. Incidentally, I don't see how carfax can be accurate, since individuals aren't likely to report everything that may happen to their vehicle. My advice: go find a nice older VW in good shape. ;-P
individuals don't necessarily do the reporting to carfax. they get the info from places like car dealerships, mechanics, and insurance companies. that's quite reliable, i think. and i would LOVE to have a VW. but a VW Jetta, like my dad and and you have, even if it's from like 1989, is hard to find under $1300. and i don't feel like spending that on it. besides, my dad and sister have, respectively, a Sprint and a Geo Metro, which are precisely the same as a Suzuki Swift, and they are good little cars. they look scary, because they're small, but they're at least made of metal and not plastic or whatever they made things like Chevy Cavaliers out of. :D
Yeah, exactly... my point being that carfax might not have all the info on a particular car if somebody did their own repairs and didn't report it, y'know?
I'm surprised VW's are so expensive. The blue book value is around $500-$700 for mine, granted it has high miles, but still - $1300 is a surprising figure - maybe they have the 16v engine with the Digifant intake. Mine's just the 8v with the CIS-E injection system, so that probably made it cheaper, even though it's just as gutsy. :-P

LOL... it's just the engine type. I'll explain it some other time and you can be confused again then, too. :-P
